Training


The Centre’s training schedule provides an opportunity to practice Zen intensely and wholeheartedly through disciplined daily practice. It is a chance to deepen your practice under the guidance of a teacher.

Supporting members may take part in Centre  life through day training or short term training. Please discuss options directly with Sensei. N.B. If you live out of Auckland you will need to arrange your own accommodation.



Daily training schedule

Tuesday to Thursday
 6:00 a.m. zazen (dokusan on Tuesday morning)
 7:30  breakfast
 8:00  samu (work practice)
 10:00 morning tea
 10:20  samu (work practice)
 12:00 p.m. zazen
 12:30 lunch
 1:00 samu (work practice)
 4:00 end of work day 
 7:00 formal sitting (Tuesday and Thursday)


Friday and Saturday

No scheduled sittings or samu at the Centre, members welcome to do their own sitting at the Centre.


Sunday

Formal sitting at 8:30 a.m., followed by tea at 10:30 and possibly other activities.


Monday

No scheduled sittings or samu, members welcome to do their own sitting at the Centre.



Current training options (2020)

Day training

This option allows you to experience training for a single day or more. 

Part-time training

Part-time training involves following the schedule above for  2- 3 days a week plus sesshins and short retreats for a dedicated period of time.
