MEMBERSHIP AND GIVING

MEMBERSHIP

The principle of dana, or giving, is central to Buddhism and to practice at the Auckland Zen Centre. No one seeking the Dharma will be turned away, and all donations small or large will be gratefully received.

If you are, or expect to be, a regular participant in Centre activities, you are encouraged to apply for membership.  Or, if you wish to just stay in touch, we suggest you become a Friend. The subscriptions are set out below.

MEMBER

Cost:

$50 joining fee ($25 low wage/student)
plus pledge of a regular monthly contribution

Benefits:

Regular e-news about upcoming activities, with Dharma teaching, discounts on robes, cushions, books and incense lower sesshin fees than non-members access to CD and book libraries participation in annual meeting Teacher’s Scholarship Fund eligibility as a Member you may request to become a formal student

How much should I pledge?

Set your monthly pledge based on your level of disposable income, and your need to contribute. One Zen teacher suggests that what you make in one hour may be a suitable amount to give weekly to your spiritual community.
