Matariki All-Day Sitting
Relax and refresh your practice.
A one-day sitting for beginners, as well as for people needing to renew their sitting practice, or to make a fresh start in their lives. Solid blocks of zazen with dokusan (one-to-one with the teacher), interwoven with the body-mind disciplines of yoga, qigong and yoga nidra (deep relaxation), led by Ven. Hanya Gallagher.
This sitting is also a wonderful lead into our Jukai (Precepts taking ceremony) on Saturday.

SCHEDULE: FRIDAY 20 June
8:30 Yoga
9:00. Yoga nidra (guided deep relaxation practice)
9:30 Review of sitting postures and sitting format
10:00 Tea break (morning tea provided)
10:30 Zazen: 3 x 35-minute rounds of sitting with kinhin (walking meditation) in between
12:30 Lunch (BYO or buy locally)
1:30 Q&A -- questions from the morning and brief talk on Saturday’s precepts ceremony
2:30 Qigong
3:00 Yoga nidra
3:30 Zazen 3 x 25-minute rounds of sitting with dokusan (one to one interview with teacher)
5:00 Setup for Saturday, short rehearsal
