Our Zen practice is not confined to the meditation hall - ideally, our practice is one with our daily life and our everyday environment. Our urban retreats offers a chance to deepen practice in our ordinary urban environment, without leaving Auckland.

The Spring retreat opens Saturday morning and finishes Sunday at 11 am.
The retreat is non-residential and is held at the Zendo in Onehunga.
You will need to bring your own food for all meals (or purchase in Onehunga) except breakfast on Sunday. Tea will be supplied at breaks.
You can come to the whole retreat or to parts.
This will be a hybrid retreat: you can attend in person or join via Mixlr from home.

One-Day Sitting -- Relax, refresh and refocus your practice
A one-day sitting for beginners, as well as for people needing to renew their sitting practice, or to make a fresh start in their lives. Solid blocks of zazen with dokusan (one-to-one with the teacher) interwoven with the body-mind disciplines of yoga, qigong and yoga nidra (deep relaxation), led by Ven. Hanya Gallagher.

9:15 Yoga Nidra (guided deep relaxation practice)
9:45 Review of sitting postures and sitting format
10:15 Tea break
10:45 Zazen 3 x 35-minute rounds of sitting with kinhin (walking meditation) in between
12:45 Lunch (BYO or buy locally)
1:45 Q&A -- questions from the morning and a brief talk
2:15 Qigong
3:00 Zazen with dokusan 3 x 35 minute round with kinhin
5:00 Dinner break
6:00 Zazen 3 x 35-minute rounds of sitting with kinhin
