The Auckland Zen Centre is a Buddhist community supporting authentic Zen practice and training in Auckland City, New Zealand.

Balamohan Shingade will be playing traditional Indian music on Saturday February 17th (4 p.m. - 6 p.m).

Balamohan is a singer of Hindustani classical music, a tradition of music based on improvisation which was developed predominantly in the temples and princely courts of the northern regions of the Indian subcontinent. Accompanied by tabla, Balamohan will perform afternoon ragas in khyal and bhajans. He is a student of Pandit Rajendra Kandalgaonkar, with whom he continues his education in the guru-shishya tradition.

Tickets $20 per person -- all funds raised will be going to support the Auckland Zen Centre.

 Summer 2017-18 schedule:

  • Monday 18 December until 15 January: The Centre will be closed. 
  • Tuesday 16 January until 6 February: Office hours will be 8 a.m. till 12 noon. No sittings on Sundays. All other usual sittings will take place but will be informal.
  • Wednesday 7th February: The full sitting schedule and normal office hours will resume.

 Learn to MeditateZen Meditation Workshops

                    Workshops are in a two-part format, and include:

  • detailed instructions on sitting and walking meditation
  • how to establish a daily practice at home
  • developing mindfulness in daily life.

After you have attended the two-part introductory workshops you are welcome at any of the sittings offered by the Centre. The next pair of workshops are 10 and 17 February 2018 (both Saturdays).
