Book Launch: 10:30 Sunday, 1 November 2020
Finding Your Seat is a handbook for Zen practice in 21st Century Auckland. Released during lockdown when gathering for a launch was not an option, we can now celebrate the publication of this useful guide. All are welcome.

Urban Retreat: 24-25 October 2020
Information available here about our upcoming 2-day hybrid extended sitting -- participation possible in person at the Centre or remotely.

Our introductory workshops are in a two-part format (run over two consecutive Saturday afternoons), and include:
    • an introduction to Zen Buddhism
    • detailed instructions on sitting (zazen) and walking meditation
    • guidelines for establishing daily home practice
Our next workshop is on Saturday 28 November and Saturday 5 December.

Both sessions of the workshop run from
1 - 4.30 p.m. and take place at our zendo, located at 52 Princes St in Onehunga. If you would like to attend the November/December workshop please register here.  The workshops will be in-person as long as we are Alert Level 2 or lower.

We make and sell traditional meditation zafus (cushions) and zabutons (mats) here at the Centre. Check the Dharmagear website for details or contact dharmagear@aucklandzen.org.nz.
In 2019 the Auckland Zen Centre declared a Climate Emergency. In doing this, we join hundreds of other Buddhist communities, faith groups, councils, cities and nations around the world, in order to serve and live in harmony with our living planet and all its beings as best we can. For more about the declaration and the work we are already doing at the Centre, see our Compassionate Action page.
